As promised here is another resort update! As you’re aware by viewing our site we are undergoing several major renovation projects at the Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort. By far the largest & most impactful of these renovation projects is the waterproofing of our underground garage. As discussed in previous blogs, our underground parking structure has experienced leaks due to aging waterproof sealant. To fix the issue, we are removing existing concrete throughout the resort in phases to re-seal the waterproofing of the underground garage.
Right now, we are progressing through phase 3 of the renovations as well as making additional property enhancements. Currently, our outdoor pool area is being re-built in addition to a new pergola and barbecue area! Great news!- the pool area has been extended on all sides to gain 50% more surface space than before! The pergola will be home to the ping pong table and will certainly be a great venue for the family ping pong tournament every summer! On the north side of the hotel the enhanced BBQ area will also be covered and offer new grilling equipment. We cannot wait for these newly renovated areas to be open for use by our Owners and guests! We are anticipating a pool area re-open date of late October.
Other areas that are currently closed for waterproofing is the outdoor walkway between the Hotel & Oak timeshare buildings. This exterior walkway has been re-sealed and we’re waiting for new concrete to be laid. We are anticipating this walkway to be open for Owners & guests late September. Also wrapping up is the northern perimeter of the Elm building and the outdoor patio in between the Elm building and Norte’s.
Phase 4 of the waterproofing project started on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020. Phase 4 includes the entire central courtyard, fire pits, adult Jacuzzi, and 1st floor interior corridor of the Oak building. The outer perimeter (south side) of the Oak building has already begun and has progressed quickly. Unfortunately, due to the courtyard being central to the Hotel & Timeshare buildings all Owners & guests will be impacted in addition please expect detours walking around the resort. As with all current & previous waterproofing phases, efforts will be taken to reduce the amount of noise, dust and/or construction related fumes to our valued Owners & guests but unfortunately may be experienced.
