So you’re traveling to Carlsbad this winter season to escape the cold or snowy conditions across the country and looking for some ideas or activities to keep you busy.  The Carlsbad Inn has you covered and hope the following list will kick-start some inspiration.

We’re extremely blessed to live and work in San Diego county where our winter season is mostly sunny with an average temperature of 60 degrees!  These conditions allow us to still get outside and be active to enjoy the beautiful Carlsbad coastline and sandy beaches.  Believe us, we do not take it for granted!  These weather patterns also offers comfortable conditions for outdoor events across San Diego county and more specifically the Carlsbad Village.  Check out the following list for some upcoming events here in Carlsbad Village.

Carlsbad Marathon:

Dubbed the BEST and most scenic winter race along the beautiful coastline of Carlsbad!  The Carlsbad Marathon is an annual race consisting of a full marathon, half-marathon and 5k held on Sunday, January 14, 2024.  The course starts by the Carlsbad Westfield mall and takes you up to the start of Carlsbad Boulevard (PCH 101) and then heads south down Carlsbad Boulevard for miles along the coastline.  Not a bad view plus a nice coastal breeze when your running 26.2 miles!  This event is a qualifier for the Boston Marathon so you may have the chance to run up against some of the fastest athletes across the globe- or witness them run by while spectating here in downtown Carlsbad Village.  Choose the Carlsbad Inn for race weekend for the closest action to this event.

Hearts of Carlsbad Village:

Hearts of Carlsbad Village is a community event hosted by Carlsbad Village Association.  This event is a Village-wide scavenger hunt for hundreds of hand-blown glass hearts courtesy of Barrio Glassworks– this year CVA will be distributing 400 hearts- double from the previous year!  This is a 2-dey event, held on Saturday and Sunday, February 10 and 11 to help promote the downtown Village area.  If you find a heart while out exploring, it is yours to keep!  Be sure to register your heart (directions on label) to enter into drawings from some other unique local surprises.

Carlsbad 5000:

Another run that you may want to plan for is the Carlsbad 5k held right here in downtown Carlsbad Village!  The “World’s Fastest 5k” welcomes runners of all ages and paces to a scenic oceanfront course.  This is a USATF sanctioned and certified course so you’ll undoubtedly see some of the worlds elite runners and hopefully witness some new world records!  This full-day event is held on Sunday, April 7 2024 and ends with a health & fitness expo or join in on the fun at the Pizza Port beer garden.
